Programs : Brochure
- Program Terms: Summer
- Restrictions: Memphis applicants only
About the Scholarship: The University of Memphis is committed to providing students with an education that will ensure global awareness and multicultural appreciation. In order to encourage students to study abroad, the University awards scholarships to eligible students based on merit and or need who plan to enroll in an approved study abroad program. Undergraduate students in programs that promote the development of international competency, defined as the acquisition of a foreign language or extended experience in a foreign culture will be given priority. This is a competitive process and scholarships are not guaranteed. The amount awarded is dependent on the applicant pool, available funding, length and the duration of the intended program.
GPA Requirement: We require that applicants have a 2.75 cumulative GPA, however, if you're GPA is below the minimum requirement, you may write a supplemental statement explaining your circumstances and the Committee will take that under consideration. Please note that applicants whose GPA falls below the 2.75 GPA requirement will not be considered for the early deadline and should apply for the final deadline.
Deadline: March 1
Recipient Expectations: A recipient of the Study Abroad Scholarship for a summer program must agree to provide 10 hours of service to the Center for International Programs and Services upon return from the study abroad experience. The study abroad office holds various events throughout the year such as the study abroad fair, outgoing and incoming orientation, promotional tables, exchange student pick-up, etc., in which we need volunteers to help with. These are the kind of events scholarship recipients are to help with upon their return from the study abroad program.
