Florence Banner Palazzi

Program Description: Palazzi - Florence University of the Arts (FUA) is a group of academic, interdisciplinary institutions located in the historical center of Florence, Italy. In addition to academics, studying abroad with Palazzi - FUA features several experiential components such as educational field-trips, getting involved in the local culture through community service and volunteer opportunities, and extracurricular activities.

Academic Year

Courses: All educational institutions belonging to the Palazzi consortia are cross-disciplinary and interrelated; students have open access to all curricula and program offerings for a variety of areas of study in English. The main institutions address liberal and studio arts, business, fashion and accessory design, hospitality management, culinary arts, food communications and publishing, digital and visual media and imaging, and contemporary Italian language studies. Internship placements and experiential learning opportunities are also available. Certain courses have mandatory course fees, which students pay on arrival. Course Requirement: Participants take 12-15 credit hours during the semester. As part of the semester course load, students are required to take one elementary Italian language course or elementary Italian-service learning course. The remaining courses are offered in English. 

School of Graduate Studies: Graduate level courses available in Nutrition, Culinary Arts and Higher Education. Go to course catalog to view available courses.

Accommodations: Students have the option to live in a shared apartment or family homestay. Students are housed in apartments throughout the historic center of Florence, within a 15-20 minute walk to Palazzi and FUA facilities. The standard layout of the apartments consists of multiple bedrooms, multiple bathrooms (variable), kitchen, living/dining room space. The bedrooms range from single bedrooms for one occupant (limited availability) to triple bedrooms, with the occasional quad space. Shared bedrooms can host 2 to 4 occupants. Single bedrooms and studio apartments are available upon request, however have limited availability. Single bedrooms and studio apartments are available by request for an extra fee ($1,120 for the 16 week semester). It is recommended that students request a single bedroom. Please note that the apartments do not include air conditioning. It is the case in Europe that most apartments do not feature air conditioning due to the mild climate. Student Life: Palazzi offers an array of experiences that will suit the diverse needs and interests of our student body. SLD offers a series of activities during orientation in order to make the transition to life in Florence as easy as possible, such as the Bare necessities shopping tours and Living in Florence seminars. The Bare Necessities tours help you learn about your neighborhood and how to shop for your basic needs in Florence, as well as discover malls, supermarkets, and other stores near the city center and make Florence your new home. The Living in Florence Seminars help you learn all about your new home and covers topics such as ways to explore the city, leisure-time activities and how to adapt to life in your host country.
